ABOUT
Jessica Close Interiors is an interior design studio with offices in Christchurch and Sydney. The studio works on a select number of residential and commercial projects across New Zealand, Australia, and England.
Jessica established the studio in 2013 after studying Fine Arts and beginning her design career in London.
Every project starts with the client. Understanding how they live, what they collect and what they want their home to feel like. The architecture, site and history also inform Jessica’s design approach. Jessica has a particular interest in heritage buildings, approaching them not as exercises in preservation, but as places that can continue to evolve without losing what makes them significant.
Colour is central to Jessica’s work, supported by pattern, texture, collections and a strong understanding of classical detail. The resulting interiors feel layered and lived in, balancing traditional references with a contemporary sensibility. There is no prescribed style. Each project is a response to the building and the people who live there.
Jessica’s interiors have appeared in The World of Interiors, The New York Times Magazine, the Financial Times, Homestyle, HOME and NZ House & Garden.
TEAM
Jessica’s sister, Emily Close, joined the studio as Operations Director in early 2026.
Together, Jessica and Emily lead a small design team across Christchurch and Sydney.
It is a family business, built on shared values and an instinctive understanding of how the other works. Jessica leads the creative direction, while Emily oversees the business and delivery of each project.
HOW WE WORK
Jessica Close Interiors offers a full interior design and interior architecture service.
We work on a small number of projects at a time so that Jessica remains closely involved in the creative direction of each one. Our involvement can extend from the initial design through procurement, build coordination and installation.
We work closely with clients, architects, builders and trusted makers throughout the process. This ensures that each detail is resolved, priced and coordinated before work begins on site, and that the original design is carried through to completion.
